|What is the cost for the playtimes or country walks?
The cost for each playtime or country walk is $4.00. You must
request this when you check in and we can usually
accommodate up to 2 playtimes a day. Some people pick out
certain days while other do playtime every other day and others
request playtime twice a day. If you have multiple pets and want
them to go out together for playtime, the fee is still just $4.00.
|-What vaccinations are required?
DOGS: RABIES, DHLPP, & BORDETELLA (ANNUALLY)
CATS: RABIES, & FVRCP
***You must provide us with a copy of your pet's shot records before we can board/groom them. If you don't have
a copy then you must talk with your vet and sign a form that will allow them to release the records via fax to our
facility. This is due to:
"In accordance with the Veterinary Practice Act regarding the confidentiality of patient (your pet) medical
records, “a written authorization or other form of waiver executed by the client” is required in order for any KY
Veterinarian Clinic to produce copies and/or release your pet’s medical records to Keshlyn.
***PLEASE BEGIN LIMITING THE AMOUNT OF ITEMS YOU ARE BRINGING WITH YOUR
ANIMAL*** WE RECOMMEND 3 TOYS AND A FEW TREATS WITH 3 TOYS MAXIMUM AND ONE BED
AND BLANKET IF DESIRED.
We provide the dishes/bowls for your animals. Please do not bring your pets bowls unless it is an absolute necessity. A lot of
bowls look the same and it makes it easier to just use our own bowls. We have metal, ceramic, glass and plastic bowls. And for the
pickiest of eaters we also have paper plates we can use. Therefore we will ask you to keep any bowls you bring with your pet when
you drop them off. Your animal will always have water available to them 24 hours a day and it is dumped every morning and then
refreshed throughout the day as needed and completely refilled before bedtime. We also provide bedding for each animal.
***Please call to find out if we carry your brand of food and if not, please bring the food so that your dog or cat doesn't get an
upset tummy from any diet changes. It is preferred that you bring your own animals food so that there is no question or
confusion as to why your animals eating habits or stomach issues might change while staying with us. We do have a
refrigerator/freezer as well as a microwave for anything that requires them. If preparing your animal's meals takes a
considerable amount of time that takes away from other pet's with us, there might be an additional fee of $5.00 per day.
***If your pets diet includes several different items that all have to be prepared or if preparing the meal will take extensive time,
please make every effort to make it as easy as possible for us. For example, go ahead and bag out each meal in a labeled bag. Or go
ahead and mix together items that can be mixed without spoiling. When bringing your own food, we find it easier to bring the
food bagged out for each meal then to bring the whole bag of food. Thanks for your cooperation with this.***
You are not required to bring anything but you are more than welcome to bring whatever will make your pet happy and more
comfortable while with us such as bedding, toys, treats, bones, etc. They always have a raised up pallet to lay on to keep them off
of the concrete. If you do not bring any bedding we do provide blankets or beds. We recommend bringing an item that has your
scent on it such as a t-shirt that you have been wearing for first time boarders.
***PLEASE!!! Only bring items and bedding that can be washed in a "normal" washing machine.
Keep in mind that boarding your dog is a lot like taking a child to daycare or a teenager away from their parents for the first time!! We
are not responsible for any belongings that get lost or destroyed.
WE TELL YOU THAT YOUR DOG DESTROYED THE BED YOU BROUGHT AND YOU CAN'T BELIEVE IT BECAUSE "FIDO" WOULD
NEVER AND HAS NEVER CHEWED UP ANYTHING AT HOME. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT HE DIDN'T CHEW IT UP AT HOME!! HE DID
IT UP WHILE IN A NEW ENVIRONMENT AT THE KENNEL!! ANIMALS SOMETIMES ACT TOTALLY OPPOSITE WHILE STAYING WITH
US IN COMPARISON TO HOW THEY ACT AT HOME!!
|How far in advance do I need to make my reservations or appointments?
For holidays such as Thanksgiving and Christmas we usually book up about 1 month ahead of time for boarding. For these
times, we do require a credit card to hold your reservation and we do have a cancellation policy. If we continue to have
issues with customers not cancelling or showing up for their reservation, we will be for forced to implement a
cancellation policy year round. Please help us avoid this and simply give us a call letting us know your change in plans so
that other people can make plans and reserve a spot for their pet.
|What happens if my animal gets sick?
When you check in we HAVE TO GET a contact number for you while you are away and also the name of your pets vet. We will
make every attempt to contact you to follow your directions or the emergency number you have given us to make any
decisions necessary and also call your pets vet.
If your vet is already closed, we will use the 24 hour AA emergency clinic or another after hours clinic. We also have several
vets that will come to us to treat your dog. If it appears to be a serious injury or something that we feel needs to be treated
immediately, we will go ahead and take your pet to the vet to get them stabilized while we try to reach you.
***Nobody ever wants to even think that your pet could require veterinarian attention while boarding with us whether its due
to natural causes or serious illness, but we have to ask that you give this thought and have a plan just in case. If you are
boarding a pet with a serious illness or an older animal, we ask that you please inform your vet that you are boarding them
with us before you leave. This way your vet can give their opinion as far as if your pet is healthy enough to board with us or if
they think they should keep your pet with them and board them at their clinic. Also you can make arrangements with you vet
as far as any treatment that might be required and this way they know your wishes ahead of time and can treat your pet
according to your wishes. If the vet thinks your pet is okay to board with us then please ask them if they can give us a contact
number to reach them if it is after hours and you don't want your animal being treated at one of the emergency clinics. In the
past, most vets will give a contact number for after hours emergencies.
|Can I arrange to pick up my dog after hours or when you are closed?
We do not allow pick up during our closed hours unless it is under certain circumstances. Although the staff is always on the
premises, once the dogs have been bedded down for the night, it is unfair to disturb them all for the sake of one. Once
disturbed, some dogs find it difficult to settle back in. Also please respect the owners and staff as we do everything and work
very hard to make our place your pet's second home and keep in mind that it literally is our home as well.
|What is I do not make it back in time to pick my pet up or if I forget to pick my pet up?
If this happens, we will bed your pet down for the night and assume that you will pick up your pet the next day. If at the end of the next day we still haven't
heard from you, we will attempt to contact you. We understand that things happen, especially with traveling, so make the necessary arrangements should
your pet need to stay with us longer.
|What if my pet requires medication?
We will happily administer medications with no additional charge. However, for any animal requiring insulin shots, there will
be a charge of $2.00 per shot. WE REQUIRE YOU TO BRING ENOUGH SYRINGES FOR EACH SHOT REQUIRED. WE WILL
NOT REUSE A NEEDLE TO ADMINISTER INSULIN TO YOUR LOVED ONE.
**Please bring enough medication for the entire stay and please have all instructions clearly wrote out to make it as easy as
possible. WE NEED TO KNOW THE NAME OF THE MEDICATION, THE DOSAGE, AND THE REASON FOR THE MEDICATION.**
***If your pet has a lot of different medications, please make every effort to make it as easy as possible for us. For example, bag
out the medications and label for morning and evening instead of bringing 7 different bottles. Or use one of the pill containers
that has the days of the week and storage areas for morning pills and evening pills. Thank you for your cooperation.***
***EXTENSIVE MEDICATION THAT TAKES A LARGE PORTION OF OUR TIME MAY POSSIBLY RESULT IN AN EXTRA
CHARGE OF $5.00 PER DAY.
|***Be sure to label ANY belongings that you bring with your pet. If the belongings
aren't labeled, then we will mark them with your last name.***
|What if I have an older/geriatric animal that requires special attention and special/extensive medication?
***If your dog requires a substantial part of our time to feed, give medication, and with his/her overall basic care there will
be an extra charge of up to $10.00 per day. This is only because we are spending so much extra time with your animal in
comparison with our other animals staying with us.***
|QUESTIONS ABOUT THE AMOUNT OF BONES/TREATS THAT ARE RETURNED WHEN YOU PICK UP
-I brought a few bones/rawhides for my dog and they were all returned when I picked my dog up and my dog usually eats one bone in
less than an hour at home. So I can only conclude that you didn't give my dog the bones I asked you to give him??
- I brought extra treats and when I picked my dog up I was told they were all gone, so what happened because there should of been alot
returned?? Or the opposite, I brought treats and there were way too many returned which seems like you didn't give my dog any treats??
Okay, please try to remember that your dog is not going to act the exact way it acts at home because it is not at home!! A lot of times if
bones are returned and they appear untouched, it is simply because your dog didn't touch or chew on the bones at all. Keep in mind that
in this new environment, there is so much excitement going on at all times that some dogs are busy playing with the dogs next to them
and just "dog watching" all the dogs coming and going that they never are bored enough to chew on the bone. And usually when dogs do
this they will either on the ride home or as soon as they get home begin to chew on the bone. If you are concerned, just ask because we
make notes of whether the dog actually chews on bones or plays with all 20 toys that you brought so that we can tell you for their next
stay that you don't need to bring as much stuff because the dog is happy and entertained with all the excitement!!
Okay, so you brought way too many treats and none were returned so you automatically assume we either just threw them away or
actually gave your dog way too many treats. First, please only bring a reasonable amount of treats!! Once again, if you are concerned
please ask because we keep notes. In this situation, either your dog was a picky eater and refused to eat it's normal dog food but we
discovered that it would eat the treats you brought. So, we supplemented your dogs diet with more treats to keep the calorie level normal
since it wouldn't eat it's dog food. Or the other possibility is that you brought the treats in a baggie/container that didn't shut good and
some spilled out and if they touched the floor, we will throw them away because we won't give treats that have hair on them or that got
wet. Either way, we make notes of this and will tell you if you ask.
Okay, so you brought treats and there were way too many returned which makes you think we didn't give your dog any treats. Once
again, just ask us. When this happens, it is usually because your dog had an upset stomach and had loose stool or diarhhea and
therefore we want to get your dog back to a normal tummy and we will withhold the treats until it has normal bowel movements. We will
sometimes switch to a food that is specifically for dogs with an upset stomach and gradually return your dog to it's normal diet.
